Need some time to yourself?? SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR CHILDREN!!!!!!!

jetta.gifOk Mummies, I am going to tell you something that will start saving you time and sanity each and every day!!! I’m not going to sell you anything or refer you to another site on this one!!
The easiest and best way for you to get a few extra minutes to yourself is to……..

SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR CHILDREN!!!!!!!
I will say it again, just in case. SPEND MORE WITH YOUR CHILDREN!!
In all of my years of working with children, THIS is the most important thing anybody could ever tell you!!
I know you are probably thinking to yourself, that I am crazy, but hear me out!!

You are trying to get dinner ready and you have two little munchkins calling your name from another room, for you to come see what they have built, or they’re fighting over a toy in another room. Or maybe you have one under each foot in the kitchen.??? All of this confusion will add at least another half an hour to your production time for dinner!! I know, Ugh, right???
Instead try this……. When your child/ren want to know what you are doing in the kitchen, Get them involved, PUT THEM TO WORK!! I don’t care if they’re only two years old!!
**Put them up on a chair beside you, or at the table,(so you can keep a good eye on them, haha!!)
**Give them a plastic knife and a few pieces of whatever veggie you are preparing for dinner and let them go nuts!! You will be AMAZED at how quiet things will get for at least 10 minutes!!
**Let them help you get items from the fridge or pantry, add spices, stir, set the table etc.
**Get their input, give them two choices of vegetables, let them pick which one you will eat for dinner.

How about housework?? I know what it’s like to get up early and clean your house for 2 hours.
You finish cleaning your living room, and then head to the kitchen. 20 minutes later you return to sit in your clean living room and …………OMG, it looks like a bomb went off in there, like you hadn’t just spent almost an hour cleaning in there. Now you will have to do it all again!!

Try this, when you need to get house work done and you have a little one following behind you destroying the place. Get them involved, PUT THEM TO WORK!!!
**After you have already swept your floor, give your little one the little hand held, and let them sweep.
(It really doesn’t matter that they’re not really doing anything, because they think they are, and THAT will bring you a few more minutes of peace.
**Don’t be afraid to give your little one some responsibility, things like picking up their toys, helping to put canned goods into the pantry on grocery day, WILL NOT hurt them. It will only do them and the rest of society a little good, by introducing them to it early!!
(****Remember, it is our responsibility as parents, to guide and instill the proper values in our children, so that they can grow to become productive and respected members of society!! IF WE DON’T DO IT, WHO WILL???****)

I promise you that you will start getting a few more minutes to yourself in no time. My son will be two in February /09. He is an only child who plays VERY well by himself or with other children. He sweeps the floor for me everyday, he knows where the garbage can is and knows what goes in there. (He’s never played in the garbage), he helps me put the groceries away, he picks up his toys. These are not things that I am forcing my son to do, he likes doing them. He thinks he’s helping and that makes him feel great !!!
He is also very polite, he says please and thank you, you’re welcome. He says bless you when he hears somebody sneeze, he even says thank you when people stop for us at the crosswalk. These are only some of the things my son has picked up just by following around behind me, and listening to me through out the day!!

Is it a Good thing to encourage children to Believe in Santa Claus!!

Is perpetuating the myth of Santa Claus good for children? This was a subject of debate on one of the article websites I am currently writing for!!
In my opinion there should be no debate in this matter. Children need good roll models and great influences’, in their lives. Santa Claus is the roll model we should all attempt to mold ourselves around. He is a stand up character, he’s happy, friendly, kind to everyone, does not pass judgement based on age, color or race. He encourages us all to be kind to one another, teaches us forgiveness. Is good to his wife and employees. We’d be crazy NOT to encourage our children to believe in Santa as well as other faithful fictional characters. Our children’s innocence is being stripped from them younger and younger all the time. They are expected to mature almost over night!!! Just think about what your childhood would’ve been like, without witches, dragons, superman, wonder woman etc.?? Those beliefs are part of what helped mold you into the person you have become!! Wouldn’t you want that kind of greatness for your child??? I know I do!!

Mom’s Making Money Online !!!

Mom’s are you looking for a way to make money online, but don’t know where to start??
Tired of the “Gurus” telling you to join this program and you’ll be a millionaire tomorrow?
Well if you are ready to dig in your heels, this is a great place to start.

Making money from home can be very simple and if done properly, can be very productive. A few things you need to know :
1) READ, READ, READ!! Do not join a program you haven’t googled or looked up in some way. Even ask around forums, or post questions on blogs.

2) BE ORGANIZED. If you are organized from the start, it will save you lots of wasted time, money and effort in the long run!!! (Trust me)
***If you are going to get involved with any kind of paid to… Site, please change your browser from Windows to FireFox. It’s AMAZING how much time FireFox will save****

3) You will need to have some kind of online bank account(ie: Paypal, E-Gold, AlertPay)

4) You DO NOT need to spend money to make money. Most programs out there are free to join, and you can use the money you make there to upgrade your memberships.

5) Stay focused and on track. It can tkae some time to get everything organized and your time management down. Just make sure you STAY ORGANIZED. Have a folder in your documents for your online work, with sub folders for each venture you choose. Also have folders in you favorites for each group. (ie: Traffic Exchanges, Paid to…, advertising, etc.

Keep an eye out for my next post on REAL ways to make money online02.gif!!!!!

Crosswalks - Attention Motorists and Pedestrians, Please Read!

Ok people,

I mean REALLY. Is the world in that much of a hurry, that we can’t take 30 seconds to STOP, look left to right and make sure both cars have seen you, and are coming to a stop, before stepping out into a crosswalk??? (It is for your SAFETY, and lets face it, common sense) You are just as much responsible for being aware of your surroundings as the people behind the wheel of the car. If not more so because it is much easier for a person to stop their body in an instant, than it is for a car to go from 30-60km to a dead stop in an instant. (Let’s be realistic here) Driver’s don’t always see you right away, so out of respect for yourself, the drivers and the road PAY ATTENTION!

Who cares what it is that keeps you occupied while you’re on your venture, IPOD, Cell, blackberry, MP3 Player. Your eyes are not doing the talking or the listening. So they’re free to do the LOOKING for ya. It is what they do best. Try stopping 5 feet from the crosswalk, and assessing the situation before you even get to the edge of the curb. Yes I know it is the “law”" that pedestrians do have the right of way, but we don’t always have to take it. If you are getting ready to cross the street and there’s only one car coming your way, let that car pass before you step out to the curb. People in vehicles let each other go out of turn all the time. Why can’t we do the same once in a while?? What’s the worst that could happen? You live to see another day, and maybe make someone smile, on account of your kind gesture. Think about it !!

Now onto the motorists !!! Put down the cell phone. (You should never be sending texts messages while driving, you know who you are ) Driving a car is just like driving any other heavy machine. You wouldn’t want the pilot of your next flight to be sitting in the air text messaging his wife about what they’re havin’ for dinner, lol. Would ya?? I think not!

Another thing that makes me crazy, as a pedestrian, is that most motorists are in such a hurry that they can’t wait until you’re completely across the street before they continue along their way. THIS IS HOW PEOPLE DIE !!! When you are stopped, waiting for someone to cross, you can’t always see the other side of the street. Sometimes people need to cross from both directions. There could be a child running your way, (just a bit ahead of their parents)that thinks it’s safe to cross because the cars are stopped. That would be a hard thing to have to deal with. All because you couldn’t wait one full minute. It is the law, and your responsibility as a motorist to make sure that crosswalk is clear before you continue!! And if you don’t be prepared. My friends and I carry small pebbles in the cup holders of our kids strollers, to throw if your not paying attention and blow through the crosswalk while we’re still in it. I’ve also kicked a few front ends.

Please have a little consideration that we have no choice but to walk with our children’s strollers in front of us, which means that the are in the crosswalk first !!! We walk a lot, and are very courteous and cautious pedestrians, and I’ve come close to getting hit at least 5 times in the last week. With and without my son. I am not an angry person by any means, but I do feel very strongly on a few issues. Impatient motorists is one of my biggest frustrations. Too many people die in crosswalks on account of people just not paying attention. Both parties included. So please, just stop and look !!! Ya don’t always have to be in a rush, life passes by to fast as it is !!!!Take care Be Safe and have a Great Day !!

Calling All Yummy Mummies !!!

Calling all Yummy Mummies (YES, THIS MEANS YOU) If you are a Mother, THAT in it’s self makes you a YUMMY MUMMY (I know it’s not spelled “Right” but I am spelling it that way for a reason, Hahaha !!! I know you all know what I’m talking about, we all have those days were we’re so busy and frazzled that we are lucky to know our own names, and have on matching shoes. We LITERALLY feel like zombies or mummies !!!!

I actually have a funny story to tell about matching shoes, hahaha !!!! It was a hectic morning and my son kept asking to go for a walk, so I called my walking buddy to meet us for a play date at the park. I was so frazzled by the time I left the house, I failed to notice that I had two different colored flip flops on my feet. One pink and the other purple. I was 20 minutes away from home before I noticed, and at that point I REALLY didn’t care. I figured if anybody asked, I did it on purpose, hahaha !!! Hey people wear some pretty strange get ups around here. I totally could’ve gotten away with it.

When we finally met my friend and her son at the park, she busted out laughing at me, but totally understood how I managed it,lol!! Being single moms sometimes we even go a whole day without looking in the mirror we’re so busy. BUT when we finally do OH MY WORD, we’re horrified that we’ve been out in public looking like that all day, and ummmmmm why didn’t anybody tell us. hahaha !!! (That’s my favorite line to say to my girls, “ummmmmmmm, have I looked like this ALL day??? Why didn’t anybody tell me, I looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket??” It always gets a good laugh!!!

Don’t EVER Out Grow The Little Things!!!!

This poem hung on a plaque in my Nanny’s bathroom for many years, I read it EVERY TIME I visited.!!! I have always been and always will be a kid at heart. I stop at least once a day and think about either these little things or others that are quite similar. I also find my 19 month old son stopping to pick up a pretty rock or actually stopping to smell the roses. ( I cried a little the first time he did it, it was so random, lol) But we all need to be more aware of the beauty that surrounds us EVERY SINGLE DAY. The sound of birds chirping, the smell of the newly bloomed lilacs, catipillers crawling in the grass, or maybe an afternoon of cloud watching followed by a beautiful sunset!!!!!

Don’t Ever out grow the little things
The world just gives away
The free fresh air and sunshine
And the games the robins play

Don’t ever out grow the magic
Of a puddle in the rain
The splash one little puddle makes
The joy rainbows contain

Don’t ever out grow the shady trees
With shadows twice their size
And the wonder of a perfect moon
That captivates your eye

Don’t ever out grow the tender heart
That loves the things is sees
And clings to all the is beautiful
In treasured memories

Ok Mummies, Time to make some new friends!!!

Ok so now you’re a Mom. Suddenly you have no friends and the ones you do have are busy doing their own thing. So now you’ve gotta get out there and make some new friends, other mom’s with kids in the same age range as your own. Get out there and be social, attend community events and festivals. Go to the parks, play grounds, museums. Don’t worry about not having anything in common , you’re both Mom’s and with that there is literally thousands of things you can talk about. From teething problems, tantrums, sleeping issues etc. We’ve all had them and have a story or two to tell, lol. Most other Mom’s are also looking for someone to talk to, too!!! Wether it’s just brief chit chat at the playground once a week, or you get together and do lots of different things together with your kids, on a regular basis. GET OUT THERE!!
Remember Ladies, You are a beautiful person, even if you don’t believe it, there are people in this world that think about how much they love you at least once every day. If you are a Mom (Single or not) Your child/ren depend on you, THEY ARE YOUR REASON FOR GETTING OFF THE COUCH! You can’t take care of your kids properly if you’re not taking care of yourself first!!!
